Roselyn Clair Sidal, the 2017 Hibiscus Teen Queen, will make a return to the stage at the 68th annual Hibiscus Festival, this time vying for the title in the prestigious Queens Category.
Sidal has made a significant impact in her previous participation and is proudly sponsored this year by Island Accommodation, a cozy lodging option situated in the heart of Suva.
At 23 years old, Sidal is nearing the completion of her bachelor’s degree in social work and journalism, reflecting her dedication to public advocacy and community service. She has been involved with the Fiji Women’s Rights Movement Girls Program since 2013, where she continues to promote equality through her educational endeavors and activities.
In addition to her advocacy work, Sidal actively participates in sports and champions the cause of empowering women and girls in athletics to ensure an equal playing field. Her involvement includes being a member of several sports teams, such as the Senior Suva Women’s soccer team, Nasinu Netball, and Northland Tailevu Women’s Futsal.
Sidal’s cultural contributions are noteworthy as well. She celebrates her Fijian heritage and South Indian roots by engaging in singing and dancing, which reflects the rich cultural tapestry of her community.
With aspirations for the future, Roselyn plans to establish her own NGO that will focus on using creative arts for advocacy. She believes in the transformative power of creative expression to highlight community issues, tell impactful stories, and foster social change.
As Sidal embarks on her journey in the Miss Hibiscus 2024 competition, she has the backing of the festival’s Gold Sponsors, FMF and Vodafone.
