Rising Star Roselyn Sidal: A Journey of Advocacy and Empowerment at Miss Hibiscus 2024

Roselyn Clair Sidal, the 2017 Hibiscus Teen Queen, is poised to make her return to the stage at the upcoming 68th annual Hibiscus Festival, this time competing in the esteemed Queens Category.

Sidal, who made a significant impact during her previous participation, is proudly sponsored this year by Island Accommodation, a cozy and inviting lodging choice located in the center of Suva.

At 23 years old, she is a former student of Bhawani Dayal Arya College and is nearing the completion of her bachelor’s degree in social work and journalism. Her academic goals align closely with her dedication to public advocacy and community service.

Since 2013, Sidal has been involved in the Fiji Women’s Rights Movement Girls Program, where she continues to advocate for equality through both her academic endeavors and community involvement.

In addition to her advocacy work, Sidal is passionate about sports and is dedicated to empowering women and girls in athletics to ensure they have equal opportunities. She is actively involved in several sports teams, including the Senior Suva Women’s soccer team, Nasinu Netball, and Northland Tailevu Women’s Futsal.

Sidal also celebrates her Fijian heritage and South Indian roots through singing and dancing, reflecting her community’s rich cultural heritage.

With future ambitions in mind, she aims to establish her own non-governmental organization focused on leveraging creative arts for advocacy. She believes in the transformative power of artistic expression to raise community issues, share impactful stories, and promote social change.

As she embarks on her journey in the Miss Hibiscus 2024 competition, Sidal is backed by the festival’s Gold Sponsors, FMF and Vodafone.
