Penaia Ramasirai, a standout athlete from Marist Brothers High School, clinched a remarkable victory in the 100m blue ribbon event at the Suva Zone Two competition held at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. He completed the race in an impressive time of 10.68 seconds, earning recognition not just for himself, but also for his school. In the girls’ race, Claudia David of Suva Grammar School took the win, marking a competitive day for both schools.
Ramasirai reflected on his experience from the previous year, where he faced disqualification while representing Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School. This year, determined to make an impact and bring prestige to Marist Brothers High School, Ramasirai stated, “Last year I ran for Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School, and I was disqualified. This year I’m trying to make a difference, and that’s what I did and got Marist a blue ribbon gold.” He credited his success to the hard work and sacrifices made during rigorous training sessions, emphasizing the collective effort from his teammates as well.
