Poasa Veiqaravi, a standout athlete from Lekutu Secondary School, is creating a buzz ahead of the junior boys’ 400-meter final at the 2025 Fiji Finals competition. The 15-year-old athlete made a significant impact during the heats this morning by coming from behind in the last 50 meters, finishing first against three competitors.
This marks his debut at the Fiji Finals, and although he felt a wave of nervousness before the race, he managed to find his footing. Veiqaravi expressed his mixed emotions, stating, “I was scared when we were getting ready to start the race. Even though I didn’t start well, I’m happy I was able to finish in first place. The final will be held tomorrow, and I’m looking forward to competing.”
His journey, characterized by a slow build-up of confidence during the race, has led him to secure a spot in the finals. In addition to the 400m event, Veiqaravi is also set to compete in the 200m on Saturday, showcasing his versatility as an athlete.
