At just 24 years old, James Reddy has already made a significant mark in the medical field, recently being honored with the Rising Star Award from ZENS Medical Centre during its 25th anniversary celebrations in Nadi. The soft-spoken Indo-Fijian, who hails from Nasolo Village in Bua, Vanua Levu, is currently working as a medical laboratory scientist at the ZENS Medical Centre’s Nadi branch.
Reddy was one of 11 staff members recognized at the event held at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort last month. He expressed his surprise at receiving the award, stating, “I did not expect to receive the award. It just came as a shock. I wasn’t even sure that I was going to be nominated.”
With a solid foundation built during his time at Aspen Medical, Reddy has been with ZENS for nearly two years and finds great interest in his work. He emphasized the crucial role laboratory scientists play in patient care, even though their work is often behind the scenes. “I love making a difference in people’s lives, making sure that from the work I do, people get correct and timely treatment,” he remarked.
Reddy, a graduate of Fiji National University with a bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory sciences, aspires to further his career within ZENS Medical Centre. In the next ten years, he hopes to ascend to a management position, crediting his CEO for encouraging him to step out of his comfort zone and build his confidence.
ZENS Medical Centre Pte Limited has grown significantly over the years, offering a range of services including general practitioner, radiology, imaging, pathology, and emergency ambulance services across multiple locations. The organization has created numerous job opportunities, with 173 employees and 30 working doctors at its eight centers.
James Reddy’s story is a testament to the impact that dedication and hard work can have, especially at a young age.
