Rising Star: Meet Aliana Vakaloloma, Fiji’s Future Soccer Sensation!

Aliana Vakaloloma is a promising young talent in women’s soccer. At only 15 years old, she caught attention during a match where the Digicel Fiji Young Kulas faced the Costa Rican U20 Women’s team. Despite the team’s 2-0 loss, Vakaloloma, the youngest player on the Fijian squad, delivered an impressive performance as goalkeeper.

Vakaloloma, who joined the Young Kulas just two weeks before the match, made numerous outstanding saves against the aggressive Costa Rican attackers, showcasing her agility, reflexes, and composure despite the pressure. Her efforts did not go unnoticed, with coach Chua highlighting her as a key player for the team.

Reflecting on her early interest in soccer, Vakaloloma acknowledged that her older brothers inspired her to take up the sport. She began playing at a young age, trying various sports but ultimately staying loyal to soccer. Currently, she plays year-round for the Spokane Shadow 08 Girls Academy, where she continues to develop her skills.

Her recent selection for the Digicel Fiji Young Kulas marks a significant achievement in her burgeoning career. Aliana’s parents expressed immense pride in her accomplishments and the opportunity she has to represent Fiji on an international stage.
