Penaia Ramasirai, a student from Marist Brothers High School, achieved a prestigious victory in the 100m blue ribbon event during the first day of the Suva Zone Two competition held at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Ramasirai clocked an impressive time of 10.68 seconds, securing his win and adding to the school’s athletic accolades. Claudia David from Suva Grammar School won the girls’ equivalent race.
Reflecting on his previous year where he faced disqualification while competing for Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School, Ramasirai shared his determination to succeed this year, highlighting his aim to bring glory to Marist Brothers High School. He said, “Last year I ran for Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School, and I was disqualified. This year I’m trying to make a difference, and that’s what I did and got Marist a blue ribbon gold.” He credited his success to the rigorous training and sacrifices made by both him and his fellow team members leading up to the competition.
Ramasirai dedicated his victory to his father, expressing gratitude for his unwavering support. As the competition’s final day approaches, spectators await to see which athletes will emerge victorious in the remaining events of the Suva Zone Two competition.
