Manshika Prasad, a 24-year-old from Nausori, has been chosen to represent Fiji at the 2024 Miss Universe pageant in Mexico, set to take place in mid-November. The Lakena native, who is currently studying for a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in Australia, triumphed over nine other finalists during a glamorous crowning event at the Pearl South Pacific Resort in Pacific Harbour on Friday night.
Manshika completed her primary and secondary education at Saraswati Primary School and Bhawani Dayal Arya College before moving abroad for her studies. She is a strong advocate against domestic violence, a cause that she feels is deeply personal.
“This issue profoundly affects individuals and families, and I aim to use the Miss Universe platform to give a voice to those silenced by fear and violence,” she stated. “My mission is to raise awareness, inspire change, and foster a society where women feel secure, supported, and empowered.”
The Miss Universe Fiji event marked a significant moment for the country, as it returned to the global Miss Universe stage after a 43-year hiatus. The night featured stunning displays of elegance from the finalists, who participated in three fashion parades.
The event was emceed by Tracey Ann Farrington, with Raj Suri serving as a host and judge, overseeing the voiceovers and category award presentations. Contestants captivated the audience with their grace and confidence during the swimwear, resort wear, and formal gown segments.
The coveted Miss Universe Fiji crown was awarded by Grant Dwyer, the organisation’s Marketing, Events & Sponsorship Director, with judges presenting various category awards. Co-runners up honors went to 23-year-old Susan Ranadi and 30-year-old Nadine Roberts.
The panel of esteemed judges included Paris Jade, Grant Dwyer, Natalie Marletta, Riri Febriani, Raj Suri, Jennifer Chan, and Melissa White.
