Joseva Vuaira, a talented athlete from Ratu Lalabalavu Secondary School, emerged as the standout performer at the Maritime Zone meet held yesterday at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. The 18-year-old made a remarkable debut in the senior boy’s 100m Blue Ribbon event, clinching first place with a time of 11.45 seconds, marking a significant achievement in his athletic journey.
Vuaira, hailing from Solevu in Malolo, was elated by his unexpected victory. “It was a shock for me, this being my first time participating in the 100m event. Winning the blue ribbon is a huge achievement,” he expressed, acknowledging the considerable effort and mentorship provided by his coach. The excitement of competing at a well-regarded venue like the HFC Bank Stadium further amplified the joy of his accomplishment.
Ratu Lalabalavu Secondary School participated with a team of 50 athletes at the event and is gearing up to replicate this commitment at the upcoming Coca-Cola Games (Fiji Finals). Vuaira is determined to further his success by competing in both the 100m and 400m events at the Fiji Finals, aiming to earn valuable points for his school against formidable opponents from top institutions across the country.
“There is a great significance in competing against top schools from across Fiji, and I’m looking forward to testing my skills on this prestigious platform,” Vuaira stated, demonstrating his ambitious spirit.
