Rising Star Ilisapeci Bari to Make Waves at Pacific Bowl Championships

Ilisapeci Bari, a 19-year-old debutant from Tavua, is filled with pride as she prepares to represent her nation and the Fiji Bulikula team at the upcoming Pacific Bowl Championships. Bari expressed her gratitude for the chance to realize her dream of playing rugby for Fiji, a dream she once shared with her grandmother.

Coming from a family steeped in rugby tradition, Bari’s father, Manasa Bari, previously played for the Highlanders in Super Rugby and has represented Fiji in the 7s team. “I’m overwhelmed and grateful for the opportunity; it was my and my grandmother’s dream to represent my country, especially in rugby,” Bari said.

Following in her father’s footsteps brings her immense joy. “Since my dad is also a rugby player, it feels great to continue his legacy.” With excitement and determination, she aims to make her country and family proud with her performance on the field.

“My target is to make my country and my family proud. I feel a lot of pressure coming into the match, but having my family’s support keeps me going,” she added. Her father expressed his happiness and pride upon learning about her selection to the team, highlighting the special significance of his child representing Fiji at a young age.

He reassured her that everything unfolds according to God’s plan, reinforcing her belief in her destined potential.

The Fiji Bulikula will face the Cook Islands at 6 pm, followed by the Vodafone Fiji Bati against the Cook Islands at 8:10 pm, both events scheduled at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
