Rising Star Ilisapeci Bari Embraces Rugby Legacy at Pacific Bowl Championships

Ilisapeci Bari, a 19-year-old debutant from Tavua, is excited to proudly represent Fiji and the Fiji Bulikula team at the upcoming Pacific Bowl Championships. She expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the chance to fulfill her longstanding dream of playing rugby for her country, a dream she shared with her grandmother.

Bari hails from a family deeply rooted in rugby, with her father, Manasa Bari, having played for the Highlanders in Super Rugby and being a member of the Fiji 7s team. “I’m overwhelmed and grateful for the opportunity; it was my grandmother’s and my dream to represent my country, especially in rugby,” she said. She added that following in her father’s footsteps adds to her excitement.

As she looks forward to the competition, Bari is focused on making both her country and her family proud through her performance. “My goal is to make my country proud, and my family, who will be watching. There is a lot of pressure going into the match, but the support from my family keeps me motivated.”

Her father shared his pride upon hearing the news of her selection for the team. “When my dad found out, he was very happy. Having one of his kids represent Fiji is something special, especially at such a young age,” Bari said. He reminded her that everything happens according to God’s plan, reinforcing her belief that she is destined for success.

The Fiji Bulikula will face the Cook Islands at 6 PM, followed by the Vodafone Fiji Bati, also against the Cook Islands, at 8:10 PM, both events taking place at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
