Eighteen-year-old netball sensation Alisi Neisulu has recently achieved a remarkable milestone by being appointed as the Head Girl of Adi Cakobau School for 2025. This prestigious role follows her impressive debut with the Fiji Pearls during the PacificAus Sports Netball Series in Brisbane last month, where her skills were on full display.
As a Year 13 student, Neisulu faces the intricate challenge of balancing her academic responsibilities with the demands of high-level athletics. Embracing this challenge, she recognizes the significance of her new role, stating, “It is hard being the head girl of the school; the school is looking up to you. The administrators, the staff members are all having the belief for you to lead the school and uphold the school rules and standards.”
Despite the heightened expectations, Neisulu emphasizes the importance of effective time management and diligence in fulfilling her responsibilities. She attributes her achievements to consistent hard work and the unwavering support of her parents, who, although living in Nadi, encourage her to strive for excellence.
Neisulu has also expressed deep gratitude towards her teachers and school administrators, referring to them as “second parents” who have supported her academic and sporting ambitions. Her message to young athletes is one of determination: “Without determination you cannot start… Just hard work and just being consistent.”
Her exemplary ability to balance leadership in academics with her sporting commitments makes her a beacon of hope and an inspiring role model for young Fijians. Neisulu represents a new generation of athletes who are not only pursuing their sports ambitions but also stepping into influential leadership roles, reflecting a hopeful future for both Fijian netball and education.
This narrative underlines the importance of perseverance and community support in achieving one’s dreams. As Neisulu prepares to lead her peers while competing at a high level in netball, her journey is a testament to the potential of youth in Fiji, encouraging their dreams and ambitions.
