Swire Shipping Fijian Drua head coach Glen Jackson expressed satisfaction with the performance of his substitutes during the recent match against the Waratahs, particularly highlighting young fly-half Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula. Jackson observed that Ravula, one of the youngest players on the team, made a significant impact in the second half with his excellent kicking skills and understanding of the game strategy.
“Izzy is a very good player, very good teen,” Jackson remarked. “I thought he came on and made a massive impact in the position we wanted. We wanted to get the ball a bit wider than we had been, and he understood that perfectly, resulting in strong plays from our wingers.”
Notably, Ravula’s contribution has brought him within just two points of former fly-half Teti Tela on the Drua’s all-time points list, with 124 points currently. As the Drua prepares for their upcoming clash against the Chiefs on March 8 at Churchill Park in Lautoka, fans are eagerly anticipating the continued development of this young talent.
This situation reflects a broader trend within Fijian rugby, where younger players are stepping into pivotal roles, showcasing their potential and energizing the team’s performance. Jackson’s trust in his younger members, including Ravula, is promising for the team’s future endeavors as they look to build momentum in the Super Rugby Pacific season.
With the upcoming match, there is a renewed sense of hope that the Drua can harness their depth and youthful spirit to secure upcoming victories, fostering positivity within the Fijian rugby community.
