Annie May, a 16-year-old player from Savusavu FC, has been appointed as the captain of the Digicel Fiji Junior Kulas for the upcoming OFC U-16 Women’s Championship. She will be joined by vice-captain Ulamila Rasovsova as the team gets ready for the tournament, which begins this Sunday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Teams from Samoa, New Zealand, Tonga, Cook Islands, Tahiti, and Solomon Islands have already arrived in Fiji and are settling in for the competition. However, the arrival of the New Caledonia team has been delayed due to flight issues, though they are expected to join soon. The Fiji squad, coached by Marika Rodu, will kick off the championship by facing Tonga in their opening match at 3 pm on Sunday.
