Eighteen-year-old netball prodigy Alisi Neisulu has made significant strides in her young career, being appointed as the Head Girl of Adi Cakobau School for the year 2025. This prestigious recognition comes on the heels of her promising debut with the Fiji Pearls at the PacificAus Sports Netball Series held in Brisbane last month, where she showcased her exceptional talents.

Currently in Year 13, Neisulu is faced with the demanding task of juggling her academic duties alongside her commitments to high-level athletics. Embracing this challenge, she acknowledges the weight of her new responsibilities, saying, “It is hard being the head girl of the school; the school is looking up to you. The administrators, the staff members are all having the belief for you to lead the school and uphold the school rules and standards.”

Despite the pressure of these expectations, Neisulu stresses the importance of time management and diligence to meet her obligations. She credits her success to her consistent hard work, along with the unwavering support from her parents residing in Nadi, who inspire her to excel.

She has also shown profound appreciation for her teachers and school administrators, whom she describes as “second parents” who have been integral in supporting both her academic and athletic goals. Neisulu shares a motivational message for aspiring young athletes: “Without determination you cannot start… Just hard work and just being consistent.”

Her remarkable capacity to balance academic leadership with her sporting endeavors positions her as a source of inspiration for young Fijians. Neisulu is emblematic of a new wave of athletes striving to succeed in their sports while taking on influential leadership roles, paving the way for a bright future for Fijian netball and education.

This story highlights the vital role of perseverance and community support in the pursuit of one’s dreams. As Neisulu prepares to lead her peers while competing at an elite level in netball, her journey serves as an inspiring reminder of the potential within Fiji’s youth to chase their aspirations.
