Fijian Drua utility back Tuidraki Samusamuvodre is optimistic about the upcoming 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season following a difficult period recovering from an ankle injury. Last season, Samusamuvodre faced challenges when he sustained the injury during the team’s opening match against the eventual champions, the Blues, in Whangarei, Auckland, which sidelined him throughout the competition.
Despite the setback, Samusamuvodre made a successful return to the field by playing for Nadi in both the Skipper Cup and the Inkk Mobile Farebrother Challenge, putting his rehabilitation efforts to the test. The versatile player, who can take on various positions including wing and centre, expressed a longing to contribute as a No. 12, a role he has previously filled.
“I honestly did not feel well, especially since many were looking forward to seeing me play at No.12,” he stated. He revealed that damaged veins in his ankle required extensive rehabilitation rather than surgery, underscoring the tough journey back to fitness. He looks forward to the new season while trusting his coach to make the best decisions regarding his position on the team.
As he prepares to face the new chapter in his professional rugby career, Samusamuvodre embodies resilience and determination, serving as an inspiration for both his teammates and fans alike. His journey highlights the importance of perseverance and the potential for a positive comeback after adversity.
With the 2025 season ahead, supporters will be eager to see how he leverages his experience and skills on the field.
