A 28-year-old man has been charged with the rape of his five-year-old niece, while a 29-year-old man faces charges including two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault involving his 15-year-old niece.
These cases are part of the Rape and Sexual Offences Statistics released for September by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). The statistics reveal that ten individuals were charged with a total of 25 sexual offence counts during the month, which include 16 counts of rape, two counts of attempted rape, two counts of indecent assault, and five counts of sexual assault.
Among the ten victims, eight were under the age of 18, comprising two male and eight female victims. Additionally, a 46-year-old man has been charged with two counts of raping his 41-year-old wife.
One shocking incident involves a 20-year-old man charged with four counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, two counts of indecent assault, and one count of sexual assault against his 17-year-old cousin. In another case, a 29-year-old man has been charged with attempted rape and sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl from his village, while a 20-year-old man faces charges for raping an 11-year-old girl from his community.
The ODPP also noted that two cases were discontinued due to Nolle Prosequi filings, citing insufficient evidence and difficulties in contacting or locating the victim.
