Rising Alarms: 10 Individuals Charged in 25 Disturbing Sexual Offences

In September, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) reported that ten individuals were charged with more than 25 sexual offences.

In its monthly update on serious sexual offences, the ODPP detailed that these offences involved ten victims, comprised of two males and eight females. Among the accused, a 20-year-old man was charged with raping his 10-year-old male cousin. Additionally, a 25-year-old man faced charges for the rape and sexual assault of a 14-year-old boy.

The report noted six cases where the victims had familial ties to their offenders. One particularly notable case involved a 45-year-old man accused of raping his 16-year-old stepdaughter; this case was ultimately dropped due to a lack of sufficient evidence.

Other charges include a 28-year-old man accused of raping his five-year-old niece, as well as a 29-year-old man charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexually assaulting his 15-year-old niece. Furthermore, a 20-year-old man faces serious charges involving four counts of rape, one count of attempted rape, two counts of indecent assault, and one count of sexual assault against his 17-year-old cousin.

In other incidents, a 29-year-old man was charged with the attempted rape and sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl from his village, while another 20-year-old man was charged with the rape of an 11-year-old girl from the same locality.

Additionally, two cases were discontinued after the prosecution filed a Nolle Prosequi due to insufficient evidence, and the victims could not be contacted or found.
