Esther’s emotional reaction upon being named dux at her school highlighted the challenges she faced while juggling her academic responsibilities and her role as a leader. She expressed gratitude for the support of her family, including her aunt and uncle, who provided a home during tough times, as well as her grandmother, who played a vital role in their lives. “Although my mother isn’t here physically, I know she is here with me spiritually,” Esther remarked, demonstrating a deep connection to her mother’s memory.
Esther’s hard work and notable accomplishments were recognized at the school’s awards ceremony, where she received multiple accolades, including the Year 13 prize, a leadership award, and subject awards in English, Pure Mathematics, Biology, and Physics. Her family, particularly her 71-year-old grandmother Ana Qitialewa, celebrated her success with immense pride.
