Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu has expressed concerns regarding the growing disrespect for law and order, especially during the festive season. He described this period as presenting unique challenges for police operations, as both traditional and cybercrimes become more prevalent.

Driu specifically highlighted the rise of online scams, with the MPAiSA scam gaining notoriety. He emphasized that these white-collar crimes are occupying a significant portion of police resources, particularly in urban areas such as Suva, Nadi, and Lautoka. In response, the police have mobilized their full workforce to address these issues, dedicating themselves to investigating these illicit activities.

Despite these challenges, Driu reassured the public that police visibility will not be compromised. The police force is committed to ensuring thorough coverage across various divisions to maintain safety and order.

This dedication to maintaining law and order during a busy festive period reflects a proactive stance from law enforcement. With ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and combat crime, there remains a hopeful outlook that community cooperation and awareness can contribute to a safer environment for everyone.
