As the third day of the Ratu Sukuna Bowl unfolds, the RFMF Army Wives have successfully defended their netball title, edging out the Police Wives with a close score of 25 to 22 at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva. The Army Servers 2 also displayed a strong performance, defeating the Police Servers 2 with a score of 44 to 29.

Team Coach Seini Naigatogato expressed her gratitude towards the senior wives for their leadership in preparing the squad for the competition. She stated, “I thank the Army Wives Club for supporting the team this year. We had to bring back some experienced players to share their knowledge with the newer members, and we aim to recruit more new players in the coming year.”

Venina Naigatogato, the captain of Army Servers 2, praised her team’s demonstration of teamwork and determination. Reflecting on the tense match, she remarked, “I’m very proud of the girls for their effort. The competition was intense, but through fitness and teamwork, we managed to prevail. Our prep was thorough, and everyone gave their best, both individually and as a unit.”

Emphasizing the significance of their victory, Naigatogato dedicated the win to all Army Servers deployed globally, especially to the Late Private Lawanigusu, who recently lost her battle against cancer. “Today’s win is dedicated to all the Servers around the world, particularly to our comrade who passed away last Thursday. Although we couldn’t attend her funeral, we honor her memory with this victory, along with our gratitude to those who supported us through preparations,” she said.

The Ratu Sukuna Bowl netball competition is nearing its conclusion today, showcasing the spirit and camaraderie among the teams.

This event not only highlights the competitive skills of the participants but also emphasizes the strong bond and support within the military community, illustrating how teamwork extends beyond the court to uphold shared values and memories. As the tournament wraps up, the camaraderie and respect shown for fallen comrades remind us of the importance of community and support in both sports and life.
