Today marks the third day of the Ratu Sukuna Bowl, with the RFMF Army Wives successfully defending their netball title. They triumphed over the Police Wives in a thrilling match, emerging victorious with a score of 25 to 22 at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva.

In another exciting game, the Army Servers 2 team secured a win against Police Servers 2, finishing with a score of 44 to 29.

Army Wives team coach Seini Naigatogato expressed gratitude towards the senior players who stepped in to guide the newer members, emphasizing the importance of their support in retaining the title this year. “I thank the Army Wives Club for supporting the team this year. We had some experienced players come back to share their expertise with the new ones. We hope to recruit more new players for next year,” she commented.

Meanwhile, Team Captain for Army Servers 2, Venina Naigatogato, highlighted the team’s strong collaboration and resilience, especially during a tense competition. She remarked on the importance of fitness and teamwork in achieving victory and expressed pride in her teammates’ efforts, especially as they faced tough competition from Police Servers 2, who were last year’s champions.

Emphasizing the emotional aspect of their win, Naigatogato dedicated their victory to all Army Servers worldwide and particularly to the Late Private Lawanigusu, who recently passed away due to cancer. “Today’s win is dedicated to all the Servers around the world, especially to our comrade who passed away last Thursday. Though we couldn’t attend her funeral today, we dedicate our win to her and her family,” she stated.

The Ratu Sukuna Bowl netball competition is scheduled to wrap up today, showcasing resilience, teamwork, and dedication among the participants.

This event not only highlights the competitive spirit of military families but also fosters a sense of community and support, further strengthening bonds both on and off the court.
