The Rewa football team achieved an impressive 2-0 victory over Ba at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori, successfully reclaiming the top position in the Extra Super Premier League standings. This match marked a significant moment for Rewa as they entered the game in second place and needed a win to take the lead from Labasa.

Skipper Setareki Hughes initiated the scoring for Rewa by converting a penalty in the first half, which set the tone for the match. Although Ba had opportunities to equalize, they were unable to capitalize on their chances, ending the first half with Rewa leading 1-0. In the second half, Rewa increased their advantage when striker John Orobulu capitalized on a defensive error to secure the final score of 2-0.

Alongside Rewa’s victory, other league matches were also in progress, with Lautoka defeating Tavua 2-0 and Nadroga narrowly overcoming Suva 2-1. Meanwhile, in previous matches, Labasa edged past Navua with a 1-0 win, and Nasinu stunned Nadi in a 2-1 upset, showcasing the competitiveness of this season’s league.

Following this round, the national league will take a break for two weeks, allowing teams to prepare for the Extra Battle of the Giants tournament scheduled to start at Labasa’s Subrail Park.
