Defending champions Rewa Masters kicked off their 2025 RC Manubhai/APCO Coatings Veterans Tournament journey in the over-45s category with an impressive 6-0 victory against Lami Veterans. The match took place at the Fiji FA grounds in Vatuwaqa, where Rewa displayed an outstanding performance, leaving their opponents with little chance to respond.
Star player Pita Rabo was instrumental in the victory, scoring three goals, supported by teammates Taitusi Tuivua and Jolame Nokonokomoli, as Rewa Masters showcased their skills throughout both halves.
Head coach and president Subhash Chand expressed his satisfaction with the team’s preparation, highlighting the importance of fitness and training leading up to the tournament. “We really prepared for this competition because we are champions from last year, and our 40s team was runners-up,” Chand commented. He pointed out that while the team performed well, there were areas for improvement, particularly in controlling the backline and seizing scoring opportunities.
Chand remains optimistic about the upcoming matches, acknowledging the strength of their opponents while urging fans to rally behind the team. Rewa Masters faces Suva Legends next at 11am today, and excitement is building for the upcoming semi-final between the main Rewa team and Suva in the 2025 Fiji Fact.
In a related context, it’s noteworthy that Rewa has a strong history in recent tournaments, with previous distinctions such as winning the over-40s title and notable individual performances from players like Nitan Kumar, who earned the Golden Boot in their past competitions. This background adds to the anticipation surrounding Rewa’s continued success in the current tournament.
