Rewa football players have been urged to reflect on their performance and engage in soul-searching ahead of the 2024 Rooster Chicken/Scoops Ice Cream Battle of the Giants. Following their 1-0 victory over Tailevu Naitasiri in round 12 of the Digicel Fiji Premier League on Sunday, the team’s coach and management spent over 30 minutes discussing performance issues with the players.
Head coach Rodeck Singh expressed after the match that the team’s performance did not meet the expected standards. “Firstly, it was about finishing, and then it came down to individual performance. Some tasks that are easily performable are not being accomplished by those who are expected to do more,” Singh explained.
Players were reminded of their larger goals beyond local tournaments and the national league. In 2023, Rewa failed to reach the semi-final stages of the BOG tournament.
