The Extra Supermarket Rewa football team has claimed the title of the Digicel Fiji Premier League. This victory was secured after the Delta Tigers defeated the hosts, Nadi, 4-1 at Prince Charles Park yesterday.
Rewa’s main competitor for the top position in the DFPL points table was Labasa, who fell to Ba with a score of 2-1. Rewa’s head coach, Roderick Singh, expressed pride in his players, stating they truly deserve the triumph.
“We first thank God Almighty for providing us with strength; it is through Him that we have accomplished this,” said the devout coach. “Last year, Lautoka took the title, and now we are the new champions. I think the boys have earned this win through their hard work.”
Singh acknowledged that the team knew from the start of the season that they had to fight for the league title. He praised his players for their determination throughout the season, despite the challenges they faced.
“The consistency of the players has been one of the positives. This match was crucial for us to decide the league winner, and it has come to fruition. The league title has returned to Rewa,” he noted.
Match results for the day included Ba winning 2-1 against Labasa, Lautoka losing 0-1 to Suva, Nadroga defeating Tailevu/Naitasiri 4-1, Navua winning 1-0 against Nasinu, and Rewa triumphing 4-1 over Nadi.
