The Extra Supermarket Rewa football team has claimed the title of the Digicel Fiji Premier League. This victory was secured after the Delta Tigers defeated Nadi 4-1 at Prince Charles Park yesterday.
Rewa faced its only challenge at the top of the DFPL points table from Labasa, who lost to Ba with a score of 2-1. Rewa’s head coach, Roderick Singh, expressed that his players earned this victory through their hard work.
“First and foremost, we thank God Almighty for giving us strength; it is through Him that we have achieved this,” said the coach. “Last year, Lautoka won. This year, we are the new champions. The boys truly deserve this win after fighting hard.”
He acknowledged that from the start of the year, the team understood the level of effort required to secure the league title. “I appreciate the boys’ fighting spirit throughout the season. Despite the ups and downs along the way, we persevered and achieved our goal,” he added.
Singh noted that the team faced numerous challenges during the season, but their consistency was a key factor for their success. “One positive aspect was the players’ consistency. We entered this final game knowing it would determine the league winner, and we emerged victorious. The league title is back with Rewa,” he stated.
