The Extra Supermarket Rewa football team has claimed the Digicel Fiji Premier League title. Their victory was solidified when the Delta Tigers defeated host team Nadi 4-1 at Prince Charles Park yesterday.
Rewa’s main contender for the top position in the DFPL standings was Labasa, who lost 2-1 to Ba. Rewa’s head coach, Roderick Singh, praised his players for their performance.
“Firstly, we thank God Almighty for giving us the strength; it was through Him that we have achieved this,” the devout coach remarked. “Last year Lautoka won it, and now we are the new champions of the league. The boys truly deserve this victory; they fought valiantly throughout the season. From the start of the year, we knew we had to battle hard to win the league, and I appreciate the players for their fighting spirit.”
He acknowledged the ups and downs faced during the season but emphasized the importance of consistency in their success.
“One of the positive aspects was the consistency of the players. This game determined our league victory, and we have accomplished it. The league title returns to Rewa,” he stated.
