The Extra Supermarket Rewa football team has clinched the title in the Digicel Fiji Premier League. Their victory was solidified when the Delta Tigers defeated the Nadi team 4-1 at Prince Charles Park yesterday.
Rewa faced its main competition from Labasa, which unfortunately lost 2-1 to Ba. Rewa’s head coach, Roderick Singh, expressed pride in his players and acknowledged their hard work throughout the season.
“Firstly, we thank God Almighty for giving us the strength; it was through Him that we have achieved this,” said Singh. “Last year Lautoka won, and now we are the new champions of the league. The boys really deserve this win; they put in a great effort.”
Singh noted that they were aware from the start of the year that winning the league would require significant effort. He praised the team’s fighting spirit, acknowledging the challenges they faced along the way.
“The consistency of the players was a positive factor for us. This last game determined the league title, and we achieved it. The championship has returned to Rewa,” he added.
In other league results, Ba defeated Labasa 2-1, Lautoka lost to Suva 0-1, Nadroga triumphed over Tailevu/Naitasiri 4-1, Navua edged Nasinu 1-0, and Rewa claimed victory against Nadi with a score of 4-1.
