The Extra Supermarket Rewa football team has clinched the Digicel Fiji Premier League title following a decisive 4-1 victory against the Delta Tigers at Prince Charles Park.

Rewa faced their primary challenge for the league’s top position from Labasa, who fell 2-1 against Ba.

Head coach Roderick Singh expressed gratitude for the win, attributing their success to divine support. “Firstly, we thank God Almighty for giving us the strength it was through him that we have achieved this,” Singh said. He emphasized that the players deserved this victory after a hard-fought season.

“Last year Lautoka won it. We are the new winners of the league. I think the boys deserve the win. They fought hard. From the beginning of the year, we knew we had to fight to win the league. I thank the boys for the fighting spirit throughout the season. There were ups and downs before we finally made it and secured the title,” he added.

Singh noted that while the team faced numerous challenges throughout the season, their consistency was key to their triumph. “One of the positive things is the consistency of the players. This was the only game for us to determine whether we won the league, and it has happened. The league title goes back to Rewa,” he said.

In other results, Ba defeated Labasa 2-1, Lautoka lost to Suva 0-1, Nadroga triumphed over Tailevu/Naitasiri 4-1, Navua won 1-0 against Nasinu, and Nadi lost 1-4 to Rewa.
