The Extra Supermarket Rewa football team has claimed the title of the Digicel Fiji Premier League. Their victory was solidified following a decisive 4-1 win against the Delta Tigers at Prince Charles Park yesterday.
Rewa’s main contender for the top position on the DFPL points table was Labasa, which faced a setback with a 2-1 defeat to Ba. Coach Roderick Singh expressed pride in his team, stating they truly earned this achievement.
“First, we want to thank God for giving us the strength to achieve this,” the coach remarked. “Last year, Lautoka held the title, but now, we are the new champions of the league. The players worked incredibly hard and deserve this success.”
Singh noted that from the start of the year, they were aware of the challenges ahead in their quest for victory. “I appreciate the players for their fighting spirit throughout the season. We faced many ups and downs, yet we persevered and secured the title.”
He highlighted the importance of consistency throughout the season, which played a crucial role in their success. “This match determined our league victory, and it has come to fruition. The title returns to Rewa,” he added.
The results from other matches included Ba defeating Labasa 2-1, Lautoka losing 0-1 to Suva, Nadroga beating Tailevu/Naitasiri 4-1, Navua edging out Nasinu with a 1-0 win, and Nadi losing 1-4 to Rewa.
