Rewa Football Club is preparing for a pivotal match against Nadi in round 17 of the Digicel Fiji Premier League, with the league title at stake. Roderick Singh, head coach of Rewa FC, emphasized the significance of the upcoming match, stating that a victory could solidify their claim to the league championship for this season.
After a decisive 2-0 win over Lautoka in round 16, Rewa has just two matches remaining to secure the 2024 league title. Singh expressed confidence in the team’s preparations, despite the challenges faced over the past week. The players have been engaged in rigorous training sessions, aware of the high stakes involved.
“The preparations are going well; we are coming off a tough week, with two games left, so we are in intensive training sessions knowing that the league is on the line,” Singh stated. “Winning this match will almost guarantee us the league title, making it an essential game, and we need to give our all to ensure the league stays with Rewa this year.”
Singh mentioned the need for ongoing improvement in game management and seizing scoring opportunities. He stressed the importance of a strong performance against Nadi, with particular attention to enhancing finishing skills and solidifying the defense to tackle Nadi’s offensive threats.
“With only two games left, it’s crucial for us to compete effectively for the national league and perform well against Nadi,” he added. Despite having two players dealing with injuries, the team is in the process of assessing the situation to finalize the lineup for the match.
Singh acknowledged Nadi as a tough competitor, highlighting their young talent and previous successes in events like the Battle of the Giants. “Nadi will be a challenging opponent; they have talented young players and performed well in the Battle of the Giants, so it promises to be an exciting match,” he noted.
Key players such as William Valentine and Tuibaba have been recognized as vital contributors who could significantly influence the upcoming game. Singh has called on Rewa’s dedicated fans to come out and support the team at Prince Charles Park in Nadi, where the match is scheduled for 3 PM on Sunday.
