Fijian soccer team Rewa FC is gearing up for the 2025 OFC Men’s Champions League, aiming to build on their prior achievements after a strong performance last season. Rewa narrowly missed a spot in the finals, losing 4-2 to AS Pirae in the semifinals, which has fueled their determination to advance further this year.
Coach Rodeck Singh emphasized that the team has faced challenges in training, with key players like Tevita Waranivalu, Setareki Hughes, Ivan Kumar, Samela Kautoga, Gabriel Matanisiga, and Epeli Valevou away for national team duties. Despite these hurdles, Singh expressed optimism, stating, “Preparations have been good. We’ve been working with the players that we have available to us currently, and everyone is showing positive signs.”
Rewa FC is placed in a challenging Group A, featuring strong opponents: Auckland City, the reigning champions from New Zealand, AS Tiga Sport from New Caledonia, and either AS Tefana or AS Pirae from Tahiti. The matches will be held from March 30 to April 12 in Honiara, Solomon Islands.
While the competition is fierce, this year’s tournament offers Rewa an opportunity to demonstrate their growth and resilience on the international stage. Fans are eagerly awaiting the team’s first match against AS Tiga Sport, hoping for an inspiring performance that could set the tone for their campaign.
Rewa’s ambition resonates with their supporters as they strive to make a mark in regional football, showcasing not just skill but also the spirit of determination. This journey, filled with potential, could turn into an exciting chapter for the Delta Tigers as they attempt to advance past the semifinals and into the finals.
