Rewa FC’s coach and midfielder Ratu Tevita Waranivalu has made a notable advancement in his career by signing with Tahiti United FC to compete in the OFC Pro League. At 30 years old and hailing from Tobuniqio in Tailevu, Waranivalu becomes the tenth player from Rewa FC to secure a transfer to an OFC Pro League team.
His departure follows several other Rewa FC players who have recently signed with new clubs. Delon Shankar, Ivan Kumar, Setareki Hughes, and Asivorosi Rabo have all moved to Bula FC, while teammates Josaia Sela and Gebiriele Matanisiga have also joined the same team. Additionally, players John Alick and John Orobulu have found new opportunities with Hekari United in Papua New Guinea.
Waranivalu’s transition marks a significant step as he moves from Rewa FC to a fully professional environment with Tahiti United FC. This transfer not only highlights Waranivalu’s talents but also reflects Rewa FC’s commitment to progress and player development. The club views these transfers as an encouragement for its players to reach higher levels of competition.
The inaugural OFC Professional League is set to kick off next Saturday, with Bula FC facing off against Vanuatu United FC in the opening game. Following that, Tahiti United will compete against South Melbourne FC the following Sunday. This league offers a valuable platform for players like Waranivalu to demonstrate their abilities and continue their growth within a professional setting. Overall, the developments in the league paint a hopeful picture for the future of Pacific football.
