Rewa FC head coach Priyant Manu has emphasized that their mission is far from over as they prepare for the crucial second leg of the Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion series against Labasa FC today at Subrail Park. Holding a slim 1–0 lead from the first leg played at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori, Manu remains focused on the task ahead, insisting that the narrow advantage means little if they do not secure a win in Labasa.
Manu stated, “It’s only one half of the CVC done. The approach for the team remains the same. The task is to win the match, knowing we cannot allow Labasa to take the front foot in the game.” He acknowledged the formidable challenge posed by Labasa, particularly at their home venue, which is renowned for its passionate supporters. The coach highlighted the importance of maintaining composure and simplifying their play to counter Labasa’s fervent backing.
As Labasa is expected to come out aggressively, Manu stressed the need for structure and discipline in their gameplay. “We know Labasa will attack aggressively. It’s about how smart and structured we are, with and without the ball, to overcome them. Discipline under pressure is crucial in games like this, and that’s where our senior players must lead,” he added.
A victory today would not only secure the Champion vs Champion trophy but also signify a promising start to 2026 for Rewa, who are currently in the process of rebuilding after the departure of several key players. Manu expressed optimism, stating, “Winning the CVC will be a great start to 2026, especially as we introduce new boys to rebuild the team. It will build confidence for the whole squad.”
The decisive second leg will commence at 1:30 PM at Subrail Park, promising an exhilarating showdown to determine the Champion vs Champion title for 2026. With high stakes and a passionate atmosphere, both teams are expected to give their all in this vital clash.
