The Extra Supermarket Rewa football team faces a challenging challenge as they prepare for the OFC Men’s Champions League 2025. Representing Fiji, Rewa finds itself placed in Group A, competing against champion clubs from New Zealand, Tahiti, and New Caledonia. In contrast, Group B consists of prominent clubs from Vanuatu, OFC Qualifying, Papua New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands.
The group draw took place yesterday at the OFC Home of Football, known as Te Kahu o Kiwa, located in Auckland, New Zealand.
Additionally, a qualifying tournament for the Champions League will occur in the Cook Islands from February 8 to 14, featuring three teams: Royal Puma FC from American Samoa, Vaipuna SC from Samoa, and Tupapa Maraerenga FC from the Cook Islands. The winning team from this tournament will secure a spot in the OFC Men’s Champions League 2025, slated to be held in Honiara, Solomon Islands, from March 30 to April 12.
In summary, while the Rewa team is placed in a difficult group, the competition also presents a significant opportunity for growth and recognition on a regional level. As they train and prepare, the hope remains that they can rise to the occasion and showcase their talent on the international stage. This adventure not only serves as a chance for Rewa to compete but also to elevate Fijian football in the Oceania region.
