The Extra Supermarket Rewa football team has clinched the Digicel Fiji Premier League title following a decisive 4-1 victory over Nadi at Prince Charles Park.
The only competition for the top position in the league came from Labasa, which lost 2-1 to Ba.
Rewa’s head coach, Roderick Singh, expressed his pride in the team’s achievement, stating that they were deserving winners. “Firstly, we thank God Almighty for giving us the strength; it was through Him that we have achieved this,” said the coach.
“Last year Lautoka was the champion. Now we are the new winners of the league, and I believe the boys earned this victory through their hard work.”
Singh acknowledged the team’s journey, expressing gratitude for their relentless spirit throughout the season. “From the start of the year, we knew we had to fight to win the league. There were many ups and downs, but we finally secured the title,” he remarked.
He highlighted the importance of consistency among players as a key factor in their success. “The consistency of the players was one of the positives. This game was crucial in determining the league winners, and it has come to fruition. The title is back with Rewa,” he added.
