Rewa Celebrates Victory: New Champions of Fiji Premier League

The Extra Supermarket Rewa football team has claimed the title of the Digicel Fiji Premier League. This victory was solidified when the Delta Tigers defeated the Nadi team 4-1 at Prince Charles Park yesterday.

Rewa faced their primary challenge for the top position from Labasa, who lost 2-1 to Ba. Rewa’s head coach, Roderick Singh, expressed that his players truly earned this win.

“First and foremost, we thank God Almighty for providing us with the strength. It is through Him that we have achieved this,” said the coach, who is known for his faith.

He highlighted that Lautoka won the title the previous year, making Rewa the new champions. “The boys deserve this victory; they fought hard. From the beginning of the year, we knew we had to battle to win the league. I appreciate the boys for their fighting spirit throughout the season. There were ups and downs, but we ultimately made it and secured the title.”

Singh acknowledged the various challenges they encountered during the season, noting that their consistency played a crucial role in their success. “One of the positives has been the players’ consistency. This was the final game to determine if we would win the league, and it has happened. The league title returns to Rewa,” he added.

The match results from yesterday include Ba defeating Labasa 2-1, Lautoka losing to Suva 0-1, Nadroga winning against Tailevu/Naitasiri 4-1, Navua beating Nasinu 1-0, and Nadi losing to Rewa 1-4.
