The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) has officially announced a temporary road closure at both entrances of the Rewa Bridge in Nausori for necessary upgrade works. This closure will commence from Thursday, November 6, 2025, and will be effective daily from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM for a duration of seven days, concluding on November 13, 2025.
During the closure, two lanes at the Pacific Energy Service Station end of the bridge will be shut each night. However, the FRA assures that limited traffic movement will still be permitted across the bridge, allowing access for those traveling to and from Nausori.
Motorists are encouraged to plan their journeys ahead and anticipate potential delays during the scheduled work hours. In an effort to ensure public safety, traffic management personnel will be deployed, and signage will be strategically positioned to guide drivers through the work zone.
This initiative aligns with the FRA’s ongoing commitment to enhancing infrastructure throughout the region, which also includes recent projects aimed at improving road conditions in the Suva area. Past articles have highlighted similar roadworks executed in other significant thoroughfares, such as MacGregor Road and the Kalabu Tax-Free Zone, demonstrating FRA’s dedication to road safety and operational efficiency.
While road closures can be inconvenient, the long-term benefits of these upgrades are anticipated to lead to safer and more reliable transportation networks across Fiji. This investment in infrastructure is a positive step toward improved travel experiences for all road users, fostering community appreciation for the ongoing enhancements to their transportation systems.
