Rewa and Suva Battle to 1-1 Draw: Exciting Match Recap!

National midfielder Tevita Waranaivalu’s timely equalizer helped Rewa secure a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Suva in the Digicel Fiji Premier League Round 11 clash at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori today.

Both teams, showcasing their new signings, entered the field determined to clinch a victory. The Delta Tigers aimed for a win to surpass Labasa in the standings, while Suva sought a victory to climb out of the relegation zone.

For Rewa, Solomon Islander John Orobulu made the starting lineup, while Simione Nabenu started for Suva, with new signing Jaygray Sipakana joining the action in the second half.

After a goalless first half, the visitors took the lead in the 51st minute. Bruce Hughes skillfully maneuvered past three Rewa players and fired a powerful shot that was deflected by goalkeeper Isikeli Sevanaia. The ball landed perfectly for Mohammed Naizal, who capitalized with a straightforward tap-in.

Persistent pressure from Rewa was rewarded in the 70th minute when Waranaivalu executed a well-placed shot that bested experienced Suva stopper Akuila Mateisuva.

Both teams worked hard to find a winning goal, but solid defensive performances on both sides ensured the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Despite the draw, Extra Supermarket Rewa remains at the top of the standings with 24 points, equal with Labasa but boasting a goal difference of +14 compared to Labasa’s +7. Flick Hygiene Suva has moved to the eighth spot with 9 points, tied with Nasinu but holding a superior goal difference.
