Revolutionizing Water Management: A New Era of Technology in Nadi

The new $8.34 million Nagado water treatment plant will benefit 38,810 households in Nadi, according to Minister for Public Works, Transport, and Meteorological Service, Ro Filipe Tuisawau.

Ro Filipe was in the western region visiting new government-funded project sites.

“The new water treatment plant incorporates advanced technologies, allowing processing and critical data to be monitored from Lautoka and Suva,” Ro Filipe stated.

“The importance of updated technologies is that they help evaluate the amount of water needed,” he added.

“It is crucial to have modern technologies for water monitoring so data can be captured, providing a clear idea of water usage for households, farms, or industries. This enables us to plan accordingly for the future.”

“We must recognize that resources are limited and ensure that our developments align with the resources available, so we avoid significant environmental problems in the future.”

Ongoing construction works are taking place on the pipeline from Varaqe to Saru in Lautoka, as well as the construction of the Nagado Water Treatment Plant to Nadele, Nadi. These projects are set to be completed by December this year.

“In the Nadi and Lautoka areas, considering the developments including hotels, industrial areas, subdivisions, and others, water is a necessity,” Ro Filipe said.

“That is why it’s essential to approach all developments sustainably.”

“We need to determine how much water we can extract and ensure that the number of developments meets the availability of resources, whether water, land, or other resources.”

“It is critical to balance developments.”
