The Sova Ni Bula app has been launched by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services in Fiji, marking a significant step forward in healthcare and the management of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the country. The initiative was led by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Luisa Cikamatana, who emphasized that the name “Sova Ni Bula,” which translates to “Basket of Life,” encapsulates its mission to enhance the health and wellbeing of Fijians.
During the launch, notable partners including Suakane Kentaro from JICA and Michael Glees from USAID praised the app’s potential benefits. They highlighted how it can assist healthcare professionals in handling NCDs more effectively, minimize patient wait times, and elevate the overall quality of care.
Developed in partnership with TaiwanICDF, USAID, JICA, and other collaborators, the app is currently being tested in four health centers. It aims to enhance healthcare efficiency, improve patient outcomes, and ensure equitable access to healthcare services. The app boasts features such as offline functionality, GIS-driven health trend analysis, and a user-friendly interface.
This promising development represents not only an advance in technology but also a commitment to improving public health systems in Fiji, offering hope for a healthier future for its citizens.
