The Ministry of Health and Medical Services in Fiji has introduced the Sova Ni Bula app, marking a significant step forward in the management of healthcare and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the country. The app’s launch was officiated by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Luisa Cikamatana, who explained that the name ‘Sova Ni Bula’ translates to “Basket of Life,” symbolizing its mission to enhance the health and wellbeing of the Fijian people.
During the event, key partners such as Suakane Kentaro from JICA and Michael Glees from USAID voiced their support for the app, emphasizing its potential to assist healthcare professionals in managing NCDs, reducing patient wait times, and elevating the quality of patient care.
Developed in collaboration with various partners, including TaiwanICDF, USAID, and JICA, the Sova Ni Bula app is currently undergoing a pilot phase in four health centers. The app aims to enhance healthcare efficiency, improve health outcomes, and ensure equitable access to medical services. Notable features of the app include offline usability, GIS-enhanced health trend tracking, and a user-friendly interface, aimed at promoting accessibility for all.
The introduction of such technology in healthcare not only aims to transform Fijian health management but also inspires hope for improved health systems in the region, as it reflects a collective commitment to enhancing public health through innovative solutions.
Overall, the Sova Ni Bula app is poised to foster a healthier future for Fiji, empowering healthcare workers and enabling better health management for the community.
