Pacific Specialist Healthcare Hospital in Legalega Nadi has launched a new three-bed Intensive Care Unit, further enhancing its commitment to healthcare innovation. This unit is designed to serve critically ill patients in the private sector within the Western corridor, as well as tourists needing multi-organ support and advanced care, including stabilization and preparation for medical repatriation.
Dr. Ratu Vereniki Raiwalui, a consultant intensivist and anesthesiologist at PSH, noted that the new service will complement the perioperative and surgical offerings of the hospital. The development of these intensive care services is particularly important for open heart surgeries performed without the use of a heart-lung machine.
In addition to the new ICU, PSH Private Specialists’ Hospital recently announced the availability of 24-hour General Practitioner services for local communities in the Western corridor, extending its reach to hotels and nearby islands in the Yasawa and Mamanucas.
PSH Specialist Hospital also provides a range of services, including emergency support, elective surgeries, advanced diagnostic services, cardiovascular care, interventional cardiology, as well as obstetrics and gynecology. The hospital is set to introduce ophthalmology and pediatric services soon.
According to Director Parvish Kumar, the hospital aims to be the leading provider of patient-focused care in Fiji and the Pacific Islands, striving to push the limits of specialist healthcare services. Clinical Director Dr. Sanson F. Fousaga added that the ICU will facilitate medical retrieval services for patients from Pacific Islands, ensuring they have access to high-level specialist care available at PSH.
