Revolutionizing Aviation: Fiji’s New Luxury Hangar Unveiled

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka officially opened the advanced Air Laucala Hangar at Nadi International Airport yesterday. This state-of-the-art facility, one of Fiji’s most modern hangars, was built with a multi-million dollar investment to accommodate high-end travelers heading to Laucala Island Resort.

The project reflects a strong partnership between the resort owner, the government, and local landowners, aiming to enhance guest services and contribute to national development initiatives. During the inauguration, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude for this significant private investment, emphasizing its alignment with international standards.

“This facility not only showcases our commitment to enhancing aviation capabilities and superior guest services but also symbolizes our nation’s progress and innovation,” the Prime Minister stated. He noted that the Air Laucala Hangar embodies Fiji’s aspiration to lead in aviation excellence within the Pacific region.

Rabuka mentioned that the hangar will bolster the capacity to maintain and service aircraft, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable aviation operations. Furthermore, he highlighted the job opportunities it will create, promoting economic growth and offering training and skill development for the workforce in the aviation sector.

“I want to thank everyone involved in bringing this project to fruition, including the landowners in Nadi and Laucala Island,” he added. The hangar is expected to provide hands-on experience for young engineers and technicians, nurturing a new generation of skilled professionals in the aviation industry.

Kevin Abramowicz, Director for Laucala Island Resort and Air Laucala, spoke on behalf of the owner, highlighting that the project was inspired by the late Mr. Dietrich Mateschitz, the resort’s former owner. He noted that the new facility would streamline transit from both international carriers and private jets into Air Laucala’s aircraft.

“Apart from cutting down transit times and ensuring maximum comfort for visitors in the lounge, the hangar is designed to provide excellent working conditions for our Air Laucala team, close to experts at Nadi International Airport,” Abramowicz explained. He also shared that owner Mark Mateschitz is dedicated to Fiji and is passionate about continuing his father’s legacy in regional development.
