On January 19, a religious gathering took place in Nausori Koro, located in the Tailevu Province, attended by five prominent clan leaders: Nailagobokola, Sauturaga, Rara, Burelailai, and Nakuita. Ratu Jese Qalirea, the leader of the Nailagobokola clan and also the representative of the Yavusa Vuniiviivi, presided over this important event.
Addressing the congregation, Ratu Jese emphasized the need for dialogue and collaboration among the clans. He confirmed the acceptance of a petition and announced plans to conduct discussions at previous locations starting from January 21, 2025. The discussions aim to consolidate community efforts and reflect on traditional values.
Ratu Jese remarked on the significance of these communal talks, stating, “We want to connect with our roots and reinforce our communal ties.” He highlighted efforts to maintain cultural practices while encouraging modern engagement in matters affecting their social and economic frameworks.
The dialogue’s scope included pivotal issues regarding land rights and the necessity for traditional protocols to be respected and revitalized within the community. Ratu Jese expressed optimism about the prospects of enhancing the living conditions of the community through grassroots initiatives and collaborations, emphasizing the importance of sustainable practices.
