The Fleming Roosters Touch Rugby revival tournament at St Thomas Primary School grounds in Lautoka is set for September 28, with 10 spots available for men’s teams. Misa Rokovua, a committee member, shared details in an interview with SUNsports, explaining that the entry fee is $100.
Currently, only two teams are confirmed for the tournament, although neither has paid their registration fee yet. Rokovua emphasized that this tournament aims to revitalize touch rugby in Lautoka and engage the youth in sports to deter them from involvement in drugs, clubbing, and petty crimes.
He encourages participation and invites individuals who do not have a team to join the event as a family fun day. The organizing committee is actively seeking sponsors, as they primarily rely on fundraising efforts to support the tournament.
Rokovua also mentioned the intention to include a Police team in the tournament to raise awareness among the youth regarding the ongoing drug crisis in the country.
