Reviving Boxing Legacy: Vakalalabure Brothers Set to Fight!

The sons of former Fiji welterweight champion Tevita Vakalalabure will be competing in the South Pacific Boxing Promotions (SPBP) event in Labasa on Friday, August 10.

SPBP promoter Fred Chand confirmed that Vakalalabure’s sons, Kimo and Kali, are part of the program and are currently training with their father at Natewa Bay.

In an exhibition match, Kimo will face Nasoni Rawaci of Bua, while Kali will contend with Junior Saula of Labasa in a four-round contest.

Chand mentioned that this promotion aims to help revive boxing in Vanua Levu, noting that the last boxing event in Labasa occurred nine years ago.

The region has a storied history of producing renowned boxers such as Isimeli Radrodro, Atunaisa Camaibau, Inia Catarogo, Samuela Vocea, Sikeli Veitala, Lorima Rakula, Noa Bukai, Vakalalabure, Atama Raqili, Nat Ledua, Jare Lalakai, Bobby Shah, Setefano Vasuibau, and Sharamat Shah.

The main event will feature Fiji super welterweight champion Winston Hill taking on Roy “Tsunami” Ser of Vanuatu. Additionally, the program will include three title fights.
