The reconstruction of the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) Vale ni Bose complex is progressing well. According to a statement from the iTaukei Trust Fund Board, phase one has been successfully completed, and work on phase two has commenced.
The Trust Fund Board indicated that the project is on track for practical completion by mid-2025, with all construction activities meticulously planned to adhere to timelines while upholding superior standards of quality and safety. The project team is dedicated to executing Phase 2 efficiently, ensuring that all milestones are reached as scheduled.
Collaboration among contractors, architects, and stakeholders has been effective, with regular updates and progress checks instilling confidence in the project’s timeline. The original GCC complex suffered significant damage due to a fire in 2020, leading to a $6 million insurance payout designated for the rebuilding efforts.
Phase two aims to improve the functionality and design of the facility, enhancing its overall purpose. The Trust Fund Board expressed confidence that the timely completion of this initiative will significantly enrich the offerings of the space, benefiting both the Great Council of Chiefs meetings and future users. The construction will be managed by Pacific Building Solutions.
