The reconstruction of the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) complex, known as Vale ni Bose, is progressing well. The iTaukei Trust Fund Board announced that phase one of the construction has been completed, and work on phase two is now underway.

The board indicated that practical completion is expected by mid-2025, with all construction activities meticulously planned to meet timelines while ensuring high standards of quality and safety. The project team is dedicated to executing phase two efficiently and is focused on meeting scheduled milestones.

Coordination among contractors, architects, and stakeholders has been smooth, with regular updates and progress checks to maintain the project’s momentum. The previous GCC complex was destroyed in a fire in 2020, and an insurance payout of $6 million has been allocated for the reconstruction efforts.

Phase two aims to enhance the facility’s functionality and design to better serve its intended purpose. The board expressed confidence that the timely completion of the project will add significant value not only to the meetings of the Great Council of Chiefs but also to future users of the facility.

Pacific Building Solutions is overseeing the construction.
